Food Security & Safety Net: concepts and approaches |
In the last ten years, food security has been at the top of government, non-government and donor organisations. There have been conceptual shifts over the years. The most widely talked about is the shift from “availability decline” to “entitlement decline”. These shifts had significant bearing on government policy and approach to ensuring food security. The training will explore other recent shifts in thinking and their policy implication in depth. The training also covers safety net, a concepts that has entered our vocabulary in the last five years. It explores the alternative the present safety net programme implemented in Ethiopia drawing on experience from other African countries. The training is most suited to safety net/food security “experts” and “team leaders” currently tasked with planning and managing the programmes. Higher lever professionals closer to the policy making circle will also benefit from the training.BACK
